Philip McGuigan MLA Welcomes Launch of Inquiry into NI Gambling Regulation

Speaking at the launch of the APG’s inquiry into the regulation of gambling in NI, Vice Chair Philip McGuigan MLA explains the need for world class gambling legislation to protect communities.

Gambling laws in Northern Ireland predate the internet and the invention of Fixed Odds Betting Terminals, making reform here long overdue.

Gambling related harm is increasingly recognised as a public health issue and the law here must reflect this. Any new legislation must decrease the risk of harm occurring in the first place.
