APG meets to discuss forward work programme

On Monday (5 September), the All Party Group on Reducing Harm Related to Gambling met to discuss the group's forward work programme.

Members agreed to hold an inquiry into public health approaches to reducing gambling-related harms, ahead the second phase of reform. They also undertook to look at reserved policy matters, around the targetting of vulnerable customers through advertising and use of personal data.

The group received contributions from Department for Communities officials on the next phase of reform, and from a PhD student from Ulster University who is researching the impact of marketing on problem gambling among women on the island of Ireland.

The group also approved the final draft of the APG's report on its gaming machine inquiry, which is due to be launched at a Long Gallery event on 26 September.
